Daisy is a 20-year-old student from the Kipsongo slum. Her path to college was opened by the sponsorship program, which she joined at 15. Before that, her days were spent helping her mother, Rael, a single mother of four who earned a meager wage cleaning houses and washing clothes, just to cover food and rent. Rael is now part of the women's group, and the program's support allowed Daisy to stop working and focus entirely on her education.

Through hard work and determination, Daisy completed high school and is now in her second year of a certificate program in information communication technology at Fulbright Universal College. She has two ambitions: to become a skilled information technology specialist, and to pursue a career in nursing. Her mother, who never had the chance to attend school herself, is overjoyed to see her daughter get a fair chance at life.

School was paid for from 2020 through the Baskets and Beads Kenya student sponsorship program: fees, uniform, supplies, and mentorship from the Kenya team.

In Daisy’s words

“Since Baskets and Beads Kenya, I have been able to stop working, go back to school, finish my high school diploma, and now I am in my second year in college.”
